Night one of NXT Halloween Havoc is taking place on October 24th. On the marquee is Lyra Valkyria challenging Becky Lynch for the NXT Women’s Championship. Lyra was in action and scored a win over Tegan Nox. Post-match, she spoke about her upcoming title defense and then Lynch responded via video. Lynch brought up the late Dean Merton a.k.a. Alexander Dean, an Irish wrestler who passed away in September. Becky shared that Merton spoke highly of Lyra to her. At the end of the show, Lyra was seen ripping up a photo of herself and Lynch. As she walked out of camera’s view, Jade Cargill was shown on the television screen.
The decision that Cody Rhodes made before he finished up his one night as NXT General Manager was adding Trick Williams to the Triple Threat involving Carmelo Hayes, Dijak and Baron Corbin to determine the challenger to Ilja Dragunov’s NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc night two. Prior to the match, Williams was ambushed and the first wrestler on the scene to come to his aid was Hayes. Williams could not compete in the match, but Hayes went on to win the Triple Threat to secure the title opportunity.
The semifinals of the NXT Women’s Breakout tournament are taking place on night one of Halloween Havoc. Karmen Petrovic bested Jaida Parker to advance and Arianna Grace defeated Brinley Reece to advance. On 10/24, it’ll be Petrovic versus Lola Vice and Arianna Grace versus Kelani Jordan.
Two matches were made official for Halloween Havoc night one via Spin the Wheel, Make the Deal. Blair Davenport and Gigi Dolin are scheduled to clash in a Lights Out match and Roxanne Perez and Kiana James are facing each other in a Devil’s Playground match. The Perez versus James match came about after Roxanne cost Kiana her bout against Shotzi.
Kicking off the 10/17 NXT on USA was a Battle Royal to determine who would be challenging Tony D’Angelo and Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo for the NXT Tag Team Titles at Halloween Havoc night one. The final two teams in the Battle Royal were Angel Garza and Humberto Carrillo and Chase University’s Duke Hudson and Andre Chase. Originally, Garza and Humberto were eliminated, but the referees did not see Carrillo’s elimination, so him and Garza got back in the ring and threw The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed) out. When it came time for the traditional tag between Chase U. and Garza and Carrillo, The Creed Brothers got involved and cost Garza and Carrillo the match. Hudson and Chase are challenging for the NXT Tag Titles on 10/24.
Robert Stone approached Bron Breakker about his attack on Von Wagner. Stone would blurt out that he wants to face Breakker at Halloween Havoc and Breakker agreed to the match.
The theme song for Halloween Havoc is ‘Vampyre’ by New Years Day. The band is scheduled to perform live at the event.
WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Chelsea Green and Piper Niven appeared during the bout between Tegan Nox and Lyra Valkyria. Natalya was ringside in Nox’s corner and they became distracted by Green and Niven. This led to Nox losing her match. They brawled with the champions afterwards.
