WWE secured a site fee for the upcoming Royal Rumble event in St. Petersburg, Florida when the annual event comes to Tropicana Field.
Jason Latimer of Visit St. Pete-Clearwater (VSPC) tells The St. Pete Catalyst outlet that they spent $500,000 from its tourist development tax funding to secure the event in a bid.
This follows recent WWE events to secure site fees including Clash at the Castle in Wales in September 2022, the Royal Rumble in San Antonio earlier this year, Backlash in Puerto Rico with the most lucrative being their twice-yearly events in Saudi Arabia as part of a ten-year pact.
$500,000 was spent by the local tourism board to attract the Royal Rumble to St. Petersburg, FL next January.
Visit St. Pete-Clearwater’s PR director disclosed the number to local media outlet, the Catalyst.

The Royal Rumble event is set for Saturday, January 27, and will stream on Peacock and the WWE Network.
