Catch 2/2 wins 2023 NJPW Super Junior Tag League, challenging for IWGP Jr. Tag Titles at Wrestle Kingdom 18

Junior Tag Title match is locked in for Wrestle Kingdom 18.

The finals of NJPW’s 2023 Super Junior Tag League tournament took place at Power Struggle. The duos of Catch 2/2 (Francesco Akira & TJP) and Yoshinobu Kanemaru and SHO clashed to determine who would be winning the tourney and getting a shot at the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Titles.

There was interference from HOUSE OF TORTURE members to assist SHO and Kanemaru, but United Empire’s Jeff Cobb and Callum Newman evened the odds.

Catch 2/2 went on to secure the victory and with their win, they earned the right to challenge for the IWGP Junior Tag Titles at Wrestle Kingdom 18 on January 4th. As they were celebrating, the reigning Junior Tag Champions Clark Connors and Drilla Moloney ambushed them and were targeting the duo until Newman and Cobb made their way back to the ring.

With the addition of Catch 2/2 versus BULLET CLUB War Dogs, here’s the updated Wrestle Kingdom 18 lineup:

  • IWGP World Heavyweight Championship: SANADA (c) vs. Tetsuya Naito
  • Bryan Danielson vs. Kazuchika Okada
  • IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships: BULLET CLUB War Dogs (Clark Connors & Drilla Moloney) (c) vs. Catch 2/2 (Francesco Akira & TJP)
