The surgery was a success.

On November 7th, Tetsuya Naito underwent his third right eye operation to improve his superior oblique palsy that has bothered him on and off since 2019. One day post-operation, Naito was discharged from the hospital.

Tokyo Sports caught up with him and he told the outlet that he has removed his eyepatch and his eye looks normal.

I’ve removed the eye patch now, and it looks normal. I had gotten used to the situation where my right eyeball was slightly misaligned… With time, I will get used to this situation, so I think it will get better.

Naito will not be taking any bumps as that could put stress on his head. He’ll be resting for the next two weeks. He expressed that he does not want to take too much time off and wants to return to the ring as soon as possible.

I don’t want to take too much time off, and it’s sad and frustrating not to have my name on the card. I want to get back to wrestling as soon as possible.

The three-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion was informed by his doctor that the third eye operation is the last time said operation can be performed. Naito stated that he wanted to save that final surgery for when he retires from wrestling.

He is scheduled to headline NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 in an IWGP World Heavyweight Title match against the champion SANADA.
