Lee is set to undergo back surgery.
It was official that on Saturday at NXT Deadline, Wes Lee was going to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the North American Championship. Lee was present on the 12/5 NXT on USA Network and was using a crutch to get around.
While in the ring, Lee stated that he will not be able to compete at Deadline as he’ll be undergoing surgery and does not know when he’ll be back. Dominik made his way to the ring and mentioned that Lee needs back surgery.
Dominik stated that since Lee is unable to compete, he’ll have a night off on Saturday. Wes then kicked it over to a video package from Rey Mysterio, who shared that he’ll be at Deadline to be in the corner of Dragon Lee, Dominik’s new opponent at the Premium Live Event.
Dragon Lee and Dominik have clashed twice in singles competition and Mysterio came out on top in both their title matches. Here’s the updated lineup for Deadline:
