NJPW World Tag League: Semi-finalists from the A Block are set

The A Block of New Japan’s World Tag League is down to two teams after Wednesday’s final round-robin matches.

Karatsu Athletic Stadium hosted the final night of the A Block’s round-robin matches with the top two teams advancing to the semi-finals later this week.

*A BLOCK: Alex Coughlin & Gabe Kidd over Mikey Nicholls & Shane Haste in 15:50
*A BLOCK: Great O-Khan & HENARE over Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano in 13:06
*A BLOCK: EVIL & Yujiro over Shota Umino & Ren Narita in 9:38
*A BLOCK: Gates of Agony over Kaito Kiyomiya & Ryohei Oiwa in 11:34
*A BLOCK: Hiroshi Tanahashi, Kazuchika Okada, Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI over SANADA, Taichi, Yuya Uemura & DOUKI in 14:28
*Lance Archer, Alex Zayne & Master Wato over El Phantasmo, Hikuleo & Jado in 7:37
*Shingo Takagi, Yota Tsuji, Zandokan Jr. & BUSHI over Atlantis Jr., Soberano Jr., Tiger Mask & Tomoaki Honma in 9:22
*Bad Luck Fale, Jack Bonza & Taiji Ishimori over Minoru Suzuki, Yuji Nagata & Ryusuke Taguchi in 8:16

In the main event, Alex Coughlin & Gabe Kidd beat TMDK’s Shane Haste & Mikey Nicholls resulting in both teams ending the round-robin stage with records of 5-2 with ten points each as both advanced.

Earlier in the show, Tomohiro Ishii & Toru Yano were eliminated from contention after being defeated by Great O-Khan & HENARE. Both teams ended the Tag League with 4-3 records and eight points each.

TMDK and Coughlin & Kidd will square off in separate matches against the B Block semi-finalists with the two sets of winners meeting in the final.

The final B Block matches take place on Thursday.

There are four teams in contention in the block with the winners of Hirooki Goto & YOSHI-HASHI vs. Taichi & Yuya Uemura, and Lance Archer & Alex Zayne vs. El Phantasmo & Hikuelo advancing to the semi-finals.
