Eddie Kingston vs. Claudio Castagnoli

Collision kicked off with the traditional cold promos open with all the combatants tonight, finishing up with Eddie Kingston saying “Saturday, Saturday” like the Elton John theme and then saying to hit the music.

Keeping with the Eddie theme, the first match of the night was Kingston vs. Claudio Castagnoli in the Blue League of the AEW Continental Classic. The story here was that if Eddie didn’t at least get one point he would practically be eliminated from contention thus losing his NJPW Strong and ROH World titles. The longtime rivals had a hard-hitting back-and-forth match with Kingston mostly fighting from underneath against the incredible strength of Castagnoli.

Eddie Kingston was able to eke out the win after multiple spinning back fists followed by a reversed roll-up.

Mox Promo

Mox said that Rush was a hard match but next week against Swerve would be harder.

FTW Rules

Renee Paquette asked Hook what was going on with him and Yuta and Wheeler interrupted and challenged Hook to a match under “FTW Rules”.

Willow Nightingale vs. Mercedes Martinez

Up next was Willow Nightingale vs. Mercedes Martinez with the story that Willow has been unable to beat Martinez in two prior outings. Diamante was cornering Martinez as Mercedes dominated Willow on the outside for much of the match. Mercedes seemingly had the match won with a flipping Razor’s Edge but Willow was able to reverse the pin to steal the victory. After the match, Mercedes and Diamante tried to assault Willow with a lead pipe but Kris Statlander made the save brandishing a chain to run off the heels.

Menard, Parker, and Hager… and Ruby, Saraya, and Anna

Renee Paquette attempted to ask Menard & Parker how it felt to be in action tonight in front of their hometown crowd but Jake Hager took over the conversation and wanted to talk about Danhausen taking his hat and sticking it down his pants and then Hager left in a huff. Menard & Parker then went on about being amped to be in Montreal when Ruby Soho wandered in, distracting Parker. That brought in Saraya and Anna Jay with Saraya discovering that Ruby had an Angelo Parker shirt on. Saraya said that Ruby was going to leave her just like Toni did and she would not be out there for her when Ruby faced Riho next week.

Swerve Promo

Swerve cut a promo about facing Jon Moxley next week.

Wardlow vs. Willie Mack

Willie Mack had a semi-competitive match with Wardlow despite all of Wardlow’s recent matches being squashes. Wardlow still dominated in the end, defeating Mack by referee stoppage in just over three minutes. To play into the theories that Wardlow is involved with The Devil storyline, Wardlow held up the “devil’s horns” hand sign before executing his final powerbomb.

Kenny Omega vs. Ethan Page

The Best Canadian Wrestle Match was up next. Ethan Page came into this match selling an arm injury caused by Tony Nese on Ring of Honor this past week. Nese was then shown watching the match backstage. The announcers noted that Page has gotten himself into incredible shape even weighing all of his food. Page was impressive in this outing with both men hitting several impressive maneuvers.

In the end, Kenny Omega was able to score the pinfall after hitting Page with the One-Winged Angel. After the match, Omega raised Ethan Page’s hand. Big Bill then jumped Omega from behind and Ethan Page rushed to his side.

CJ Perry & Miro

CJ Perry talked up her client Andrade and Miro interrupted and said he wouldn’t touch Andrade in this tournament but once it’s over so is he.

Julia Hart Promo

Julia Hart said she knew what was behind everyone’s masks but admitted she couldn’t figure out Abadon.

Penta & Komander vs. Menard & Parker

Next up was hometown heroes Matt Menard & Angelo Parker going up against Penta El Zero Miedo and Komander. Unfortunately, the lucha team was too much for the Quebecers as Penta & Komander picked up the win with a combination Package Piledriver & 360 flip.

Main Event: Bryan Danielson vs. Andrade El Idolo

The main event of the evening was the Blue League pairing of Bryan Danielson and Andrade El Idolo. Before the match, Tony Schiavone sent out their best wishes to Jim Ross who “is still nursing an injury” and would hopefully be back soon. Andrade spent a large part of his offense focusing on Danielson’s previously-injured orbital bone. Danielson started bleeding from the area and Andrade ripped off his protective mask.

Andrade beat Danielson clean after a Hammerlock DDT. After the match, Andrade was checking on Danielson along with Doc Sampson. Claudio and Wheeler Yuta came out as well. Andrade and Claudio started shoving each other as Danielson was selling the injuries.

Note: The commentary team did not bring up the concept of “Standby Matches” tonight.
