Hayes is going after the U.S. Title.
At NXT Deadline, Carmelo Hayes scored a win over Lexis King in singles competition. Coming out of that bout, a video was pushed out to NXT’s digital platforms featuring Shawn Michaels.
Michaels announced that Hayes will be competing in the tournament on Friday Night SmackDown to determine a new number one contender to Logan Paul’s WWE United States Championship.
Hayes is going to be taking on Grayson Waller in the tournament on the 12/15 SmackDown. Thus far, Bobby Lashley and Santos Escobar have advanced out of the first round. The other remaining first round match is Kevin Owens versus Austin Theory.
Logan Paul became U.S. Champion by defeating Rey Mysterio at Crown Jewel in November.
