The lawsuit between WWE and MLW appears to be done after issuing a notification regarding a settlement.
Lawyers Christine Montenegro and Marc Kasowitz filed in the U.S. District Court in the Northern District of California on behalf of MLW Media LLC and WWE:
In accordance with the Court’s Standing Order for Civil Cases, Section IV.F.1, Plaintiff MLW Media LLC and Defendant World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc. (together, the “Parties”), hereby submit this Notice of Settlement to notify the Court that the Parties have settled this action. The Parties are in the process of completing the final settlement documents and expect to file the appropriate dismissal papers within the next thirty (30) days.
MLW had filed an antitrust suit against WWE in January 2022 with allegations of WWE attempting to undermine competition and monopolize the pro wrestling market by interfering in MLW’s contracts and business prospects.
MLW alleged that WWE pressured third parties into abandoning contracts and prospective relationships for MLW. This included a pending deal for MLW with VICE TV in 2021, which was killed at the last minute, and MLW blaming WWE.
The suit was dismissed this past February but MLW had 21 days to amend its complaint and did so successfully. The amended suit stated that WWE violated the Sherman Antitrust Act and stifled competition through its exclusivity agreements with broadcasters.
WWE and MLW have come to a settlement in the antitrust case against WWE.
