The UFC 296 card has lost one of its main card bouts with Ian Machado Garry unable to compete.

The news of Garry’s removal from the pay-per-view was reported by Chael Sonnen and confirmed by Dana White on Thursday night.

White stated that Garry started with the flu and it turned into pneumonia. White didn’t elaborate if they were seeking a last-minute opponent for Luque.

Garry did not appear at Wednesday’s media day as he was battling the illness.

The welterweight fight was scheduled to open the pay-per-view portion this Saturday at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

UFC 296 will include two championships with Leon Edwards (21-3, 1 NC) vs. Colby Covington (17-3) for the UFC Welterweight Championship and Alexandre Pantoja (26-5) vs. Brandon Royval (15-6) for the UFC Flyweight Championship.

John Pollock & Eric Marcotte will have a review of UFC 296 streaming live this Sunday at 11 a.m. ET on the POST YouTube channel
