WWE Raw notes: GUNTHER retains IC Title, Rhea Ripley vs. Ivy Nile, Nakamura antagonizes Rhodes

The WWE Intercontinental Championship remains in GUNTHER’s possession. He bested The Miz in their singles match and per the stipulation, Miz can no longer challenge for the belt as long as GUNTHER is champion. Afterwards, GUNTHER told Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser that he’ll be taking a few weeks off and wants them to grind and try to impress him while he’s gone.

Adding to the 1/1/24 edition of Monday Night Raw is Rhea Ripley defending her Women’s World Championship against Ivy Nile.

Shinsuke Nakamura continued to antagonize Cody Rhodes. He read a ‘Christmas story’ to Rhodes and stated that Dusty Rhodes was an inbred among other insults. Cody and Nakamura brawled shortly after that comment was made.

In the main event, Judgment Day’s Finn Bálor & Damian Priest successfully retained the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles when they defeated The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed).

The following matches were made official for the 1/1/24 Raw:

  • Becky Lynch vs. Nia Jax
  • Tegan Nox & Natalya vs. Shayna Baszler & Zoey Stark

Kicking off the show was R-Truth versus J.D. McDonagh in a Miracle on 34th Street Fight. Members of The Judgment Day jokingly agreed to Truth’s proposed stipulation that whoever lost would be out of the group. Truth scored the win over McDonagh.

Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser jumped Kofi Kingston who was handing out gifts to the audience in a Santa Claus costume. Making the save was Jey Uso and Uso went on to defeat Kaiser in singles competition.
