According to Martina, Lyra thought her time in NXT U.K. would be coming to an end after the injury.

Guest appearing on Wrestling With Johners was 12-year veteran and three-time OTT Women’s Champion, Session Moth Martina. As the conversation rolled on, Martina was asked about current Irish wrestlers that she came up with who have also gone on to find success in the business.

She spoke about the reigning NXT Women’s Champion Lyra Valkyria and expressed that she’s happy for her success. Martina stated that Valkyria and Becky Lynch wrestling is a dream match for anyone in Ireland.

Session remembers when Valkyria tore her ACL in 2021 while a part of NXT UK. She stated that Valkyria thought it was going to be the end of her NXT U.K. run but Martina said she knew that was only the beginning for Lyra.

Same with Lyra Valkyria (I’ve watched her turn herself into a superstar). I mean, I remember when she was out with an injury a while ago and she thought that-that was gonna be the end of her NXT U.K. career and I knew, I was like, ‘No, this is only the beginning’ and I mean, it’s the stuff of dreams what she got to do with Becky (Lynch) and I cannot, cannot think of anyone else that deserves it more. She’s an absolute rocket, she’s incredible, and what a dream match for anyone, anyone in Ireland. To see them two wrestle is a dream…

Lyra is gearing up for her next title defense which is taking place at NXT New Year’s Evil against women’s Iron Survivor Challenge winner, Blair Davenport
