AEW Rampage Results: Vikingo Successfully Defends AAA Mega Championship

International Championship

Rampage “Holiday Bash” kicked off with Orange Cassidy defending the International Championship against frequent stablemate Rocky “Azucar” Romero. Trent Beretta was in Orange’s corner but the commentary team noted that Trent had teamed with Rocky in the past. At one point in the match, Romero used Beretta’s move Strong Zero on Cassidy to get a nearfall. Ultimately, Cassidy hit the Orange Punch and Beach Break for the win. After the match, Casisdy, Beretta, and Romero hugged to a big pop.

Statlander & Hathaway

Tony Schiavone interviewed Kris Statlander who said that nothing could come between her and Willow Nightingale. Stokely Hathaway interrupted and said that Willow had been telling everyone that she carried Statlander in the match. Stokely seemed to be angling for perhaps a managerial role for Statlander here.

Nana & The Machine

Backstage Prince Nana and Brian Cage promoted Cage’s match against Keith Lee tomorrow night on Collision.

The Hardys vs The Kingdom

Next up saw The Hardys facing off against The Kingdom. Roderick Strong turned his name-screaming gimmick into crowd work asking people their names and calling them stupid.

The Kingdom won after Matt Hardy grabbed a chair which Referee Rick Knox yanked away from him. As Matt was reeling from that, Matt Taven snuck up and rolled him up for the victory.

Ruby & Ange

Renee Paquette was interviewing Ruby Soho when Angelo Parker approached and asked Ruby on a date tonight. Saraya said that she’s changed her mind and she supports them together. Saraya then coaxed Ruby & Renee offscreen and told Parker that Ruby is her friend and he couldn’t have her. Parker responded by saying “She’s yours… for now”.

Skye Blue vs. Queen Aminata

The next match of the night was Skye Blue taking on Queen Aminata who was noted to be returning from a knee injury. Aminata had a good showing but was forced to tap out after a TKO and Dragon Sleeper from Blue. Blue will be teaming up with Julia Hart to take on Abadon and Thunder Rosa tomorrow night on Collision.

Queen Aminata has had ENOUGH of Skye Blue.

AAA Mega Championship: El Hijo del Vikingo vs. Black Taurus

The main event of the evening was a rematch of what was a great match from ROH Final Battle last week with El Hijo del Vikingo defending the AAA Mega Championship against Black Taurus. This was a good deal of repeating spots from Final Battle but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t incredible. Vikingo was victorious with the 630 senton.
