NJPW makes changes in company management, Hiroshi Tanahashi appointed as President

Changes made to NJPW’s company management. 

There was a meeting of New Japan Pro-Wrestling’s Board of Directors and shareholders on December 23rd. It was decided that personnel changes should be made to the company’s management. 

Effective December 23rd, Takami Ohbari is stepping down from his role as President and Michiaki Nishizawa is stepping away from the Director role. Eight-time IWGP Heavyweight Champion Hiroshi Tanahashi was appointed as the new President and Representative Director of NJPW. Here is the write-up of all the personnel changes: 

President & Representative Director: Hiroshi Tanahashi

Director: Hitoshi Matsumoto (Chief of Business Production, TV Asahi) 

Director: Taro Okada (President & CEO, Bushiroad Fight) *Mr. Okada’s position is on a part time basis

Effective December 23, Takami Ohbari and Michiaki Nishizawa will step down from their positions as President/Representative Director and Director respectively.

A press conference addressing the changes is going to be held on December 26th. 

On January 4th, Hiroshi Tanahashi will be challenging Zack Sabre Jr. for the NJPW World Television Championship. He’ll be addressing the audience at the Tokyo Dome directly in his new role.
