The finals of the NXT men’s Breakout tournament is taking place at New Year’s Evil on January 2nd. It’ll be Riley Osborne squaring off against Oba Femi. Osborne bested Lexis King to advance. King was distracted by Trey Bearhill, who he ambushed and replaced in the tourney. Femi scored a win over Tavion Heights to secure his spot in the final.

There was a Heritage Cup match between the champion Noam Dar and Josh Briggs. Dar retained via disqualification after Briggs hit him with a bucket. That same bucket was used by Lash Legend earlier in the match when she hit Briggs.

Later in the show, Brooks Jensen and Fallon Henley met up with Josh and brought up that he did not want them ringside for his match. The three of them eventually agreed to amicably split ways after several years together.

In the show opener, O.T.M. (Bronco Nima & Lucien Price) defeated Duke Hudson and Andre Chase and with their victory, they secured a shot at the NXT Tag Team Championships.

The following matches were made official for New Year’s Evil:

  • Six-Man Tag Match: No Quarter Catch Crew (Drew Gulak, Myles Borne & Damon Kemp or Charlie Dempsey) vs. Dragon Lee, Cruz Del Toro & Joaquin Wilde
  • Loser Becomes Ranch Hand or Servant Stipulation: Fallon Henley vs. Tiffany Stratton
  • Roxanne Perez vs. Arianna Grace

As Dragon Lee, Del Toro and Wilde were backstage, they were approached by Elektra Lopez, who was a part of Legado Del Fantasma with Cruz and Wilde. She was accompanied by NXT women’s Breakout tournament winner Lola Vice and Vice was not receptive to Lopez’s old running mates.

In the main event, Eddy Thorpe defeated Dijak in NXT Underground.

Below are the winners of the NXT Year-End awards:

  • Tag Team of the Year: The Creed Brothers (Julius & Brutus Creed)
  • Female Superstar of the Year: Tiffany Stratton
  • Male Superstar of the Year: Ilja Dragunov
  • Match of the Year: NXT Championship — Carmelo Hayes (c) vs. Ilja Dragunov (NXT No Mercy)
