Before the main card of NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 18 got underway, the New Japan Ranbo Battle Royal took place. Emerging from the match as the final four were Great-O-Khan, YOH, Toru Yano and Taiji Ishimori.

They are going to compete in a four-way on January 5th at New Year Dash to determine the next KOPW Champion.

During the Ranbo, Takashi Iizuka made his return to the company. Iizuka had his retirement show under the NJPW banner in February 2019.

Also appearing in the match was Fujita ‘Jr.’ Hayato. Hayato and IWGP Junior Heavyweight Champion Hiromu Takahashi won the Best Bout award at the 2023 Japan Indie Awards for their match on October 15th for Michinoku Pro Wrestling.
