Matt Riddle is coming to New Japan Pro Wrestling.

After Hiroshi Tanahashi’s first title defense as NJPW Television Champion at New Year Dash, a video aired to reveal New Japan’s latest addition.

Riddle issued a challenge to Tanahashi, which was accepted with the current champion adding that he didn’t know who Riddle was.

Riddle, 37, was released by WWE last September and was the biggest name among those cuts. His tenure in WWE was marred by allegations of sexual assault in 2020 during the Speaking Out movement by former EVOLVE personality Candy Cartwright (Samantha Tavel). Riddle denied the allegations but admitted that he did have an affair with Tavel. A lawsuit was filed by Tavel with Riddle listed as one of the defendants but was dropped in July 2021.

Riddle is also working with MLW and will be wrestling on the Kings of Colosseum event this Saturday night.
