Styles is hoping he gets the chance.
16-time WWE World Champion John Cena went on a media run over the last week to promote the movie ‘Argylle’ that he is starring in. Along the way, Cena stated on multiple platforms that he’s planning on retiring from in-ring competition and aims to be done before he’s 50 years old.
Cena’s comments were reacted to by A.J. Styles during Styles’ appearance on The Collection with Brad Gilmore. Styles hopes he gets to share the ring with Cena again before he chooses to step away.
I think there’s a lot of us that would like to mix it up with (John) Cena one last time and I’m definitely one of those guys. We had some chemistry that I can’t explain. Maybe it’s opposites attract I guess you’d say and me and John are definitely that kind of dance partners where, you know, it always fun getting in the ring with him, it was always big, it was always special and it was always great so I look forward to, hopefully, before he retires, jumping in the ring with him one more time.
There have been four singles matches between Styles and Cena and they are tied at two wins a piece.
Styles is heading into the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event to challenge for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
