To no one’s surprise, AEW Collision took a major hit while airing against the WWE Royal Rumble.
The January 27 episode from Bossier City averaged 300,000 viewers and 83,000 (0.06) in the 18-49 demographic, according to Wrestlenomics.
Both figures are the lowest in the show’s history in its regular slot going back to June 2023 and represent a decline of 32% in overall viewership and 49% in the key demo from last week’s episode. There was one episode of Collision that aired on Friday night last November, which averaged 270,000 viewers.
In the 18-49 demo, males dropped from 94,000 to 52,000 viewers while females experienced a drop of 54% from 68,000 to 31,000.
Adults 18-34 declined from 57,000 to 30,000. Males in the demo fell by 66% and women dropped by 24% from last week.
Adults 35-49 dropped from 105,000 to 53,000 with the largest percentage drop of the week reserved for women in this demo at 70%.
The peak quarter occurred during the first fifteen minutes of the show with Jon Moxley & Claudio Castagnoli vs. Shane Taylor & Lee Moriarty and a backstage segment with Roderick Strong and Komander averaging 343,000 viewers and 105,000 in the 18-49 demo, per Wrestlenomics.
While the Royal Rumble was the main culprit for the decline, Collision also aired against the Golden State Warriors vs. L.A. Lakers, which averaged 3,968,000 viewers on ABC, per Sports Media Watch.
The show included an Escape the Cage match with FTR & Daniel Garcia vs. House of Black and a 1-on-1 match between Bryan Danielson and Yuji Nagata.
