New Tag Champions were crowned.
The sole championship match on NJPW’s The New Beginning in Osaka card was El Phantasmo and Hikuleo defending the IWGP Tag Team Championships against KENTA and Chase Owens.
There were several points in the match when Taiji Ishimori got involved to assist his BULLET CLUB faction-mates. Ishimori was able to hit Hikuleo with a title belt and then KENTA followed up with a pin to secure the victory.
The win kicks off KENTA’s first IWGP Tag Title reign and Owens’ second.
Hikuleo and El Phantasmo are still in possession of the NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championships.
