There is optimism that Steve McMichael will be able to return home this week.
The former NFL & WCW star’s latest challenge involved a bout with MRSA and required a blood transfusion, according to family friend and sports anchor Jarrett Payton, who has relayed several messages from the McMichael family.
Update on Steve McMichael:
Great news – Mongo is feeling better and he’s responding well to the antibiotics. The hope is to have him back at home on Tuesday. Please keep sending up your thoughts and prayers for Steve and his family. 🙏🏽 #Bears

McMichael was diagnosed with ALS in 2021, which has led to significant weight loss and the inability to speak.
The 65-year-old was a member of the Chicago Bears squad that won the Super Bowl in 1985 with McMichael recently announced for inclusion in this year’s Pro Football Hall of Fame class.
McMichael will enter the Hall of Fame in a class that includes Dwight Freeney, Randy Gradishar, Devin Hester, Andre Johnson, Julius Peppers, and Patrick Willis.
The ceremony will take place on August 3 in Canton, Ohio.
