The Rock’s Road To Wrestlemania will include a stop in Glendale, Arizona next week.
WWE has announced Dwayne Johnson for the March 1 episode of WWE Smackdown on Friday. The show will be The Rock’s fourth appearance on WWE TV in 2024.
Johnson appeared on last week’s episode of Smackdown, officially joining Roman Reigns’ Bloodline faction and continuing to petition for a Wrestlemania bout against Reigns for the WWE Undisputed Universal Championship.
This came two weeks after WWE teased that The Rock would face Reigns at Wrestlemania, as Cody Rhodes brought out the wrestler and movie star on an early February episode of Smackdown. Rhodes ultimately decided to use his Royal Rumble victory to cash in a match against Reigns, which The Rock has since protested.
The Rock also showed up to WWE’s “Day 1” special of Monday Night RAW in January. This event planted the initial seed for the Reigns and Rock story that has played out this month. After a verbal sparring match with Jinder Mahal, The Rock teased a confrontation with Reigns by asking the crowd if he should “sit at the head of the table” — a phrase that Reigns is known for using.
WWE is promoting The Rock’s appearance with the tagline “Greatness is coming.”
