NJPW New Beginning in Sapporo results: Nic Nemeth challenges Hiroshi Tanahashi to NJPW Global Championship match

After winning the NJPW Global Championship on Friday, Nic Nemeth has named his first challenger.

At New Beginning in Sapporo, Nemeth & Ryusuke Taguchi defeated David Finlay & Gedo.

After pinning Gedo, Nemeth grabbed the microphone and challenged Hiroshi Tanahashi to be his first challenger for the Global Title.

Tanahashi was on commentary. He had been scheduled to compete on the card but was pulled due to injury. He accepted the challenge.

Elsewhere on the card, Kazuchika Okada won his final match as a full-time NJPW competitor.

On the other hand, Tama Tonga lost his final match for the promotion as he and Tanga Loa were defeated in a tag match by El Phantasmo and Hikuleo.

Also, a video aired of ‘Scapegoat’ Jack Perry challenging Shota Umino to a future match.

Yuya Uemura had to have his head shaved after losing a hair vs. hair match with Yota Tsuji.

In the main event, Tetsuya Naito retained his IWGP World Heavyweight Championship against former champ SANADA.
