Belair chats her road to WrestleMania.

It was three years ago that Bianca Belair and Mercedes Moné f.k.a. Sasha Banks headlined night one of WWE WrestleMania 37. They are the first two Black women to headline a WrestleMania.

That match is often brought up in media appearances that the two talents have done since it happened and it was mentioned during Belair’s appearance on Gorilla Position. Belair said she has not had a conversation with Moné about the idea of coming back to WWE but ultimately wants what is best for her. She feels there was more magic to be made between them.

I haven’t had this conversation with her (Mercedes Moné about returning to WWE). I don’t know what she wants or what she wants to do. I just want what’s best for her and what she wants to do with her. I’m not one to tell someone what they should do. What I will say is that we created some magic in the ring at WrestleMania 37 and I think that there was so much more magic to be made. Not even just with us inside the ring but, with me being champion at the time and the Tag Team Champions, I just saw it as so much representation that was on the line that was on the verge of happening and so much greatness that was going to happen so, the fact that it was all halted at that point, I would love for it to pick back up one day and take off so, I think… we didn’t even touch the tip of the iceberg of what could be done so…

As of this writing, Belair has not been publicly scheduled for a match at WrestleMania 40. She was asked about her road to the event and does that road lead to Jade Cargill.

That’s the question right now, especially since I didn’t win the Royal Rumble and I didn’t win Elimination Chamber which has kind of been my road to WrestleMania the past couple of years or I’ve been champion and neither three of those happen so at this point, I’m just trying to figure out how I’m going to get there. I’m hoping I can be there physically. Not just on the poster but, Jade Cargill’s name is coming up, I’ve been seeing Tiffany’s name come up. Because we’ve been going back and forth so I think the possibilities are endless. I’m in a position I’ve never been in before so my road to WrestleMania looks a lot different. But, I’m just treating it like any other year. We were just talking about what did I have for breakfast. My diet is road to WrestleMania, I’m working out like it’s road to WrestleMania, I’m staying ready so I don’t have to get ready so whatever opportunity presents itself, I’m taking it on.

Following up on that, Belair was asked the question of would she rather face Cargill or Tiffany Stratton at WrestleMania and she responded with the following:

I mean honestly, of course you saw the reaction with Jade (Cargill), right? It’s Royal Rumble. We didn’t say anything, we didn’t do anything, we didn’t wrestle, we didn’t touch each other and the crowd was going crazy. I think the Instagram post on WWE had like nine million views within two days. So, that alone just shows the type of magic that we can create by just standing in the ring so imagine the magic that we can create whether it’s a singles or a tag. Who knows what can happen? I think just the two of us being in the ring, people are just buzzing for it and it’s magic to be made. I don’t know if that’s this year at WrestleMania, I don’t know if it’s next year at WrestleMania because, you know, she was in Rumble. Now, when is she gonna come back? So I’m ready for either or (Cargill or Tiffany Stratton)… It just shows how big it can be (face-off between Cargill & Belair). So, I’m excited for it. It’s amazing. Two women standing in the ring, we both kind of represent the same thing. Just strong, powerful, women empowerment. Being beautiful but graceful at the same time. I think that we’ve had a moment before in the ring with me and Sasha (Banks), WrestleMania 37 where it’s the first two Black women to ever main event WrestleMania. Well now, it’s a chance for this to happen again but now it’s not the first so I’m excited for times when it’s not the first anymore. It’s just becoming the norm and this is just what’s happening and I just think it’s magic.

Since arriving to WWE’s main roster at WrestleMania 36, Belair has always been in action at the yearly event. In 2023, she defeated Asuka to retain the Raw Women’s Championship.
