New champions to be crowned.

Before Kazuchika Okada wrapped up with New Japan Pro-Wrestling to join All Elite Wrestling, he was one-third of the NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champions with Hiroshi Tanahashi and Tomohiro Ishii.

Okada stated that his belt would be vacated, which left Ishii and Tanahashi without a third. New Japan pushed out an update regarding the titles and noted that new 6-Man Champions are going to be crowned on April 14th at the Wrestling World event in Taiwan, China.

There is going to be a one-night tournament to determine the new champions.

When Kazuchika Okada wrestled his last match in Korakuen Hall for NJPW this past January, it was with the NEVER Openweight 6 Man Championships on the line against TMDK. With his team alongside Hiroshi Tanahashi and Tomohiro Ishii successful for their eighth defence on the night, Okada declared that he would be vacating the titles leaving the gold the center of much speculation ever since.

Now, it’s confirmed that the 27th NEVER Openweight 6 Man Tag team Champions will be crowned April 14 in Taipei, at Wrestling World 2024. A one night tournament will take place at Zepp New Taipei, with the winning team taking home the trios titles. NJPW’s return to Taiwan has gained a big stakes attraction, but who will come away with the gold?

Wrestling World is the kickoff event for the Asia Pacific Federation of Wrestling. Six promotions are under the A.P.F.W. umbrella and those are: Japan (NJPW & STARDOM), China (DFW), Taiwan (Puzzle), Thailand (SetUp) and Singapore (GrappleMax).
