Styles is glad Sting finished his career on his own terms.

AEW’s 2024 Revolution pay-per-view was headlined by Sting’s final match. He teamed with Darby Allin and they successfully defended the AEW World Tag Team Championships against The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson). Sting ended his time in AEW undefeated and as champion.

Throughout Sting’s collective time in TNA, he shared the ring with A.J. Styles on multiple occasions and in an interview with the Battleground Podcast, Styles weighed in on Sting’s retirement. He joked that Sting went a lot longer than he ever will in wrestling. Styles is glad he got to end his career on his terms.

Oh man, they say never met your heroes. I got to meet one of mine. Obviously, it was Sting. He is such a great guy, he’s a nice guy, has always been a nice guy and man, it just made my day to meet somebody like that who I admired so much and enjoyed watching. So, he has definitely earned his time in pro wrestling and man, he went a lot longer than I’m going to. It’s awesome that he gets to end on his terms and not someone else’s. When you go out on an injury, that’s not the way you wanna go out so for him to end it when he wants to end it, that’s awesome.

At the post-Revolution media scrum, Sting responded ‘maybe’ to the question of will he continue to be involved in AEW although he’s done in the ring.
