Satomura reached out over a decade ago and received a response that shocked her.

Meiko Satomura is in the midst of her 28th year in the wrestling business and she is currently running the Sendai Girls’ promotion that she co-founded in 2006.

There’s a feature on Satomura on the Sportiva website. Back in 2021, Satomura signed with WWE and joined the company as a part of the NXT U.K. brand. She remembers reaching out to WWE in 2013 by sending videos and documents of her work and was told the following:

‘We don’t need wrestlers with your style right now.’ I was shocked.

Present day, Satomura is traveling back and forth between Japan and the UK where she trains talent. After becoming NXT U.K. Women’s Champion, Meiko relocated to the UK.

The last time she wrestled in a televised match was at NXT Roadblock in 2023 where she challenged Roxanne Perez for the NXT Women’s Championship.
