H.B.K. chats Trick versus Carmelo and the run Tony D’Angelo is on.

Next up on the docket for the NXT brand is one more TV and then off to Stand & Deliver on April 6th. It is official that the main event of the Premium Live Event will be Carmelo Hayes versus Trick Williams. The duo were first introduced on-screen together in September 2021.

NXT creative overseer Shawn Michaels joined Busted Open Radio to promote Stand & Deliver and said Hayes and Williams’ story is arguably the deepest in NXT history. There was a point when Michaels never wanted to see them apart and hoped that when that day came, it would be much later down the line.

I dearly love both those two young men with all my heart (Carmelo Hayes & Trick Williams). They have been fantastic. They’re a joy to the coaches and not just me, to everybody in NXT and the Performance Center and obviously have earned this spot at WrestleMania, at Stand & Deliver as the main event. This is the deepest, most passionate, most intriguing storyline in NXT and I would argue, in NXT history and this is so deserving of the main event and these two guys, I don’t know, earned it every step of the way and I’m happy that they’re getting this opportunity.

And to be perfectly honest, there was a time I just never wanted to see them apart and maybe hoping that if this day were to happen that we’re going through now would happen, it would happen much later down the road but, Trick was a guy that was chomping at the bit to get out there and to prove himself and we gave him that opportunity and now, he’s enjoying it and of course Carmelo in all of this, it’s tough. I’ve been that guy as well. When you’re the guy that’s, again, clearly who you feel is the guy that’s put everybody on the map but then all of a sudden, this other guy starts getting a bit more of your shine than you’re used to and it is something that you’re happy for them but at the same time you’re saying, ‘What about me?’ And so, this is a fantastic dynamic because so much of it mirrors real life…

Also on the bill for Stand & Deliver is Tony D’Angelo challenging Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship. Michaels praised D’Angelo and said his only concern is D’Angelo getting a call from Hollywood and being taken away to play a mob boss.

He’s somebody that from the beginning, he jumped in, just 110 percent into that character, has done a fantastic job. I gotta be honest with you, the things that worry me about Tony D’Angelo is somebody from Hollywood giving him a call and losing him to play the next mob boss for somebody because he does such a fantastic job and The Family has grown obviously…

There is going to be written and audio coverage of Stand & Deliver here on POST Wrestling.

D’Angelo and Dragunov are going to have a segment on the Stand & Deliver go-home show in addition to a face-to-face between Williams and Hayes.
