Sabu wrestled for over thirty-five years after being trained by his uncle, Ed Farhat a.k.a. The Sheik.
The two began working in FMW together in 1991 and were part of a scary incident the following year during a Ring of Fire match where the ring was engulfed in flames and the older Farhat could not escape the ring.
Sabu made a name for himself through the U.S. independent scene and Japan for his innovative flying mixed with hardcore wrestling and popularizing the use of tables in his matches.
His legacy was tied to ECW where he first wrestled for Eastern Championship Wrestling in 1993 and among the signature performers of Extreme Championship Wrestling.
On February 4, 1994, Sabu was part of a famous match in the company’s history with a three-way dancing involving Terry Funk and Shane Douglas for Funk’s title, and the match lasted one hour.
His feud with Taz climaxed at the company’s first pay-per-view event in April 1997 with the long-awaited showdown and subsequent turn by Taz’s manager Bill Alfonso, aligning himself with Sabu.
He defeated Terry Funk for the ECW title in August 1997 his reign only lasted a week before losing the belt to Shane Douglas at Hardcore Heaven.
After ECW, he had a notable run in TNA and signed with WWE for the relaunched ECW brand, which began in June 2006 and lasted one year with the company.
He has not wrestled since 2021 but appeared on AEW programming last year.
