Sami Zayn: I don’t know if there’s a city that treats their hometown guy like Montreal treats Kevin Owens & I

The early 2023 portion of Sami Zayn’s career is reflected on.

For the second consecutive WrestleMania, Sami Zayn will be in a title match. This go-round, his opponent is the reigning WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER.

While speaking to The Canadian Press, Zayn promoted the match and took a look back at the early 2023 portion of his career. He touched on being in Montreal for Elimination Chamber 2023 and does not think there’s another city that treats their hometown guy like how Montreal treats him and Kevin Owens.

That crowd just responds so well to me in the (Bell Centre) arena that it just seeps through the television and it’s infectious. It just makes you seem like such a huge deal. I don’t know that there’s another city that treats their hometown guy the way Montreal treats me and Kevin Owens. It’s just exceptional.

It was at the 2023 Elimination Chamber that Zayn challenged Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.

Zayn is hoping to be at the center of something like that again. He added that he’s not sure if any of Reigns’ other bouts have had that same buzz and vibe.

I hope I get to be at the center of something like that again in my lifetime (Zayn said about the storyline with Roman Reigns). Even for Roman, for whom there’s a case to be made has had a top-three career of all time – I dare say the vibe and the buzz going into our match, I don’t know if any of his other matches have had that.

Zayn and Owens headlined night one of WrestleMania 39. They are going to be in their respective Intercontinental and United States Title matches this year.
