For the first time in his career, Mark Briscoe can call himself ROH World Champion.

Briscoe defeated Eddie Kingston in 24 minutes on Friday evening to earn the ROH World Championship. Their match headlined ROH Supercard of Honor 2024, which took place at the Liacouras Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA.

It was an emotional moment on Friday when Briscoe won the title. After landing the Jay Driller to stop Kingston in a bloody and striking-heavy battle, ribbons from fans in attendance were thrown into the ring. Family and wrestlers came into the ring to celebrate Briscoe’s title win with him.

While Briscoe has captured the ROH World Tag Team Championships an impressive 13 times in his career, Friday marked the beginning of his first-ever singles championship reign in the promotion.

Mark has spent the majority of his career as a tag team wrestler alongside his brother Jay Briscoe. However, after Jay’s tragic passing in 2023, he has carried on the team’s legacy in singles competition.

Jay had earned the ROH world title twice from 2013 to 2015, including a near-300-day reign at one point. Mark can now be grouped in with his late brother in the extensive lineage of ROH champions.

Kingston held the ROH World Championship for nearly 200 days. He first gained the title on a September 2023 episode of AEW Dynamite, dethroning Claudio Castagnoli. He kept a hold of the title through the AEW Continental Classic tournament and defended it numerous times on TV.
