If you are watching the 2024 Indie Wrestling Hall of Fame broadcast, don’t expect to see one of the many prolific names being inducted this year.

According to GCW’s Brett Lauderdale, legendary wrestler Sabu has decided to not show up to today’s ceremony. Amid the event taking place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on Sunday afternoon, Lauderdale said Sabu’s billed appearance would not happen.

“In the true spirit of independent wrestling, Sabu has decided to keep his deposit and no show the Indie Hall of Fame ceremony today,” Lauderdale said on X (formerly known as Twitter). “He accepted the booking and took the money, but doesn’t wanna get in the elevator and come upstairs. What a legend.”

Sabu is an influential wrestler with more than three decades of in-ring experience, including being part of ECW during some of its biggest years.

This weekend, Sabu was being inducted into the third-ever Indie Wrestling Hall of Fame. His class includes Mercedes Martinez, Steve Corino, The Briscoes, among others. You can watch the event on Youtube here.
