Cody Rhodes def. Roman Reigns for Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania XL; The Rock, John Cena, Undertaker get involved

Rhodes finishes the story.

Headlining WWE WrestleMania XL was the rematch from WrestleMania 39, Roman Reigns versus Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship. To start, the video package for the bout showed pictures of Rhodes with The Young Bucks (Matthew Jackson & Nicholas Jackson), Kenny Omega and Chris Jericho. Brandi Rhodes joined Cody for his entrance.

As the bout hit the 20-minute mark, Jimmy Uso ran in and superkicked Cody. Making the save was Jey Uso, who bested his brother on night one of WrestleMania XL. As they brawled on the entrance ramp, Jey tackled Jimmy off the stage.

Solo Sikoa eventually made his way to the ring and spiked Rhodes. Reigns went for the pin, but Cody kicked out. It was John Cena who ran to the ring and he took out Solo. Cena gave an ‘Attitude Adjustment’ to Reigns and then went to the outside and put Sikoa through a table.

As Cena was on the outside of the ring, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson entered the mix and had a stare-off with Cena. Rock then hit Cena with a Rock Bottom. The Shield’s theme song hit over the stadium and it was Seth Rollins who came out in the signature Shield gear. He was immediately ‘Superman Punched’ by Roman Reigns.

When The Rock was about to whip Cody with a weight belt, The Undertaker’s gong hit and the lights went out. When they came back on, Undertaker was standing behind The Rock and then gave him a chokeslam.

It was Rhodes, Rollins and Reigns in the ring and Rollins had his back turned as he was trying to pull himself up using the ropes. Reigns opted to take a chair to the back of Rollins. This led to Rhodes hitting a series of Cross Rhodes to secure the win and end Reigns’ championship run that started in August of 2020.

Joining Cody in the ring for the celebration was Brandi Rhodes, Sami Zayn, Kevin Owens, Randy Orton, John Cena, Jey Uso, L.A. Knight, CM Punk, Teil Rhodes, Brodie Jr. (Negative One) and Cody’s mother. He presented the newly won title to his mother. Cody then invited WWE execs Bruce Prichard and Paul ‘Triple H’ Levesque to the ring to embrace them.
