Another client might be paying site fees to WWE in the near future.

A recent report from CBS58 states that “Milwaukee leaders” have been pitching WWE on hosting the Royal Rumble at the American Family Field. Sources told the local news station that “city and state representatives” had meetings with those inside WWE during Wrestlemania 40 weekend earlier this month.

Since the Rumble takes place in January, the event won’t be able to come to Milwaukee until the 41,000-capacity ballpark undergoes “winterization” renovations. The renovations are set to begin after the 2025 Milwaukee Brewers season comes to an end, meaning an event in 2026 would be the earliest that the PLE could touch down at the venue.

Wisconsin has been making a push to lure major events into the city, potentially boosting tourism and promoting the state. A Wisconsin Senate bill was passed earlier this year that hopes to expand their bidding on major events that will “attract national exposure.”

It has been some time since a major WWE event has taken place in Milwaukee. While they remain a frequent TV destination, the last pay-per-view card in the city dates back to 2012 when they played host to Elimination Chamber. Eight years before then, Taboo Tuesday was held there as well.

Tourism boards paying site fees to host events has become an increasingly important part of WWE’s business model. Many of WWE’s top annual events are placed in locations where the promotion can earn money off both ticket sales and the money that was used to bid for the product.
