The long-awaited fight between Conor McGregor and Michael Chandler was announced on Saturday night.

During the post UFC 300 press conference, UFC President Dana White confirmed that the bout would take place at welterweight (170 lbs) on June 29th at UFC 303. The event takes place during International Fight Week in Las Vegas.

The fight has been in the making for over a year. On February 4th, 2023, White announced the pair as the coaches for season 31 of The Ultimate Fighter. He said that the two would fight “at the end of the season,” with the date to be announced “soon”.

McGregor has not fought since July 11th, 2021, when he lost to Dustin Poirier by TKO in a first-round stoppage after breaking his tibia.

Chandler’s last fight was also against Poirier, losing by submission at UFC 281 on November 12th, 2022.

The pair lost little time before hyping the fight on social media.
