After travelling the world for the past month, Jon Moxley will return to in-ring AEW action on next week’s episode of Dynamite.
Moxley, the newest IWGP World Heavyweight Champion, will face Powerhouse Hobbs in a singles match.
The appearance will be Moxley’s first match on AEW since defeating Tetsuya Naito last weekend and capturing the top NJPW belt. In previous weeks he also picked up a win on NJPW’s Sakura Genesis card and made an appearance alongside the Blackpool Combat Club on a CMLL show in Mexico.
Moxley will also be making his first singles appearance in AEW since mid-February.
The match was set up following an angle on this week’s episode of Dynamite. Moxley called out the Don Callis Family, specifically asking for a fight against Hobbs. Later in the night, Moxley made the save for Claudio Castagnoli, who was being attacked by the Callis faction.
Next week’s Dynamite will take place at AEW’s unofficial home, Daily’s Place in Jacksonville, Florida. The venue has played host to dozens of AEW cards, including many months of television during the COVID-19 pandemic. No other matches have been reported for the card thus far.
