The post-Dynasty edition of AEW Dynamite fell to a three-year low in viewership for an episode that aired live across the country as opposed to its usual staggered broadcast.
The April 24 episode from Daily’s Place averaged 683,000 viewers and 306,000 (0.23) in the 18-49 demographic, which ranked sixth among cable originals on Wednesday, per the Wrestling Observer Newsletter and Wrestlenomics.
AEW Dynamite aired live across the country at 8 p.m. ET and 5 p.m. Pacific, which was going to impact the West Coast viewership due to the earlier start and led to the show’s lowest viewership since January 6, 2021. However, the 18-49 audience held up better and the lowest mark since March 27.
Dynamite ranked below back-to-back NBA playoff games on TNT, back-to-back NHL playoff games on ESPN, and Inside the NBA following the late game on TNT.
AEW’s viewership fell ten percent while the 18-49 audience declined by nine percent from last week’s figures.
Wrestlenomics reports that the peak viewership occurred in the opening quarter with 792,000 viewers with The Elite arriving at the arena, the in-ring segment with the Best Friends, and the beginning of Swerve Strickland vs. Kyle Fletcher. The peak in the 18-49 audience was the final quarter featuring the end of Jon Moxley vs. Powerhouse Hobbs and The Elite attacking Tony Khan with 330,000 viewers.
In Canada, the show was affected by the NHL playoffs with the Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins averaging 2.56 million viewers head-to-head while Dynamite fell to approximately 89,000 viewers and 41,000 in the 25-54 demographic on TSN 2. Dynamite’s Canadian viewership declined by thirty-two percent and the demo audience saw a forty-three percent drop.
