Yuya Uemura became the newest KOPW Champion on Saturday’s Road to Dontaku card in Hiroshima.
In a Rural Revitalization Match with Great O-Khan, the two had a Best-of-3 Falls contest, including a tire-lifting contest, a lemon-eating contest, and a tables match to determine the winner.
The tire-carrying portion saw each contestant attempt to bring four tires into the ring with the quickest securing the fall. Uemura won this with the tires incorporated as weapons as they fought for the fastest time.
The second fall featured the Hiroshima lemon being consumed (including the peel) and O-Khan was the quickest to consume the item and force a Tables match.
Uemura won the match and the championship after countering an attempt by O-Khan to use the Eliminator and placing O-Khan through a table using the Deadbolt.
Uemura becomes the ninth person to hold the KOPW Championship, which was created in 2020 and ends O-Khan’s reign of ninety-eight days.
