Bianca Belair & Jade Cargill are the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions after defeating Asuka and Kairi Sane at Backlash.
The pair will now be able to appear on SmackDown, Raw or NXT. The win marks Jade Cargill’s first WWE title. Cargill debuted for WWE at the Royal Rumble but the Backlash match was only her fourth TV or PLE match since then.
Belair and Asuka started the match with a high-paced exchange. The pace slowed a little as Cargill and Sane tagged in. Cargill delivered some good-looking power moves, including a pair of backbreakers.
After Belair reentered the fray, she found herself in trouble as Sane and Asuka engaged in some slick double-team attacks, leaving Bianca desperate to make a tag.
When the hot tag finally came, Cargill entered the ring with a top-rope springboard. There was a little awkwardness in the following sequence regarding which of the Kabuki Warriors was the legal competitor.
The end came when when Cargill hit Jaded on Sane and Belair hit the KOD on Asuka for the pin and the title change.
