Insight into Mike Santana’s day on April 20th.
There was an impromptu match at TNA’s Rebellion pay-per-view featuring Steve Maclin. Maclin’s opponent was revealed to be the returning Mike Santana.
Prior to Rebellion, the last time Santana competed for TNA/IMPACT was in August of 2019. Alongside Ortiz, he would go on to join All Elite Wrestling but Santana finished up with the company in March 2024.
After his return to TNA, Sam Leterna caught up with him on the company’s official Instagram page. Santana said on the day of Rebellion, he was hidden away in a hotel so no one would see him.
I mean, it’s been a long time coming. I haven’t been here (TNA/IMPACT) in five years and a lot can happen in five years and a lot has happened in five years so, I mean, just everything that I’ve been through and have experienced and I’m thankful that it led me back here and everything happens for a reason and I mean, the day (I returned) itself was just insane. I was stuck in a hotel room for hours, so no one would see me. I felt like a prisoner in solitary confinement (he laughed). All for the love of the game, right? But yeah, it was a great experience. Snuck into the building, came through the crowd, got to feel that energy and it was an amazing experience. Absolutely, absolutely a homecoming. TNA has done a lot for my career back then and just seeing how much its grown and how much it’s progressed and how the team has grown and everyone here has the same mindset of wanting this to get better and to grow it and it’s an amazing place to be and I’m glad to be back and back in the fold.
Days after Rebellion, TNA revealed that they came to terms with Santana on a contract. He wrestled Myron Reed on the 4/25 TNA iMPACT broadcast.
