Insight into negotiations for talents that are represented by The Lucha Libre Agency.

For the 5/11 edition of Busted Open, Denise Salcedo and Tommy Dreamer welcomed Kevin Kleinrock onto the show. Kleinrock is the President and C.O.O. of Masked Republic.

He talked about Masked Republic’s Lucha Libre Agency negotiating AEW and WWE contracts for talents like Dragon Lee, RUSH, Dralístico, The Beast Mortos and The Lucha Brothers (Rey Fénix & Penta El Zero Miedo).

When it comes to Dragon Lee and WWE, he is not able to do any new projects with Masked Republic because he’s exclusive to WWE, but the Masked Republic were able to put projects into his deal such as being able to release Dragon Lee action figures and a middle grade book series with his brothers RUSH and Dralístico.

And then there are the wrestlers that we represent through our Lucha Libre Agency, who get a little bit more of a white glove treatment so, someone needs to negotiate with AEW, WWE, TNA, MLW, whatever. We will handle their negotiations for them. Oftentimes, that leads to a better contract. Not necessarily on the money side per se, but, our talents that are in AEW are still able to licensing and merchandising and entertainment projects with us so that’s RUSH and Dralístico. Originally, we had done Lucha Brothers’ contract. The Beast Mortos so, they have kind of special abilities with their contracts because they were signed to Legends of Lucha Libre and Masked Republic before they went to AEW and even with Dragon Lee going to WWE, while we can’t do any new projects with him because now he’s exclusive to WWE, we did have a number of projects in the pipeline, from action figures to a middle grade book series with his brothers and those are all still gonna happen because we were able to negotiate that into his deal so, and then even just — when wrestlers get a contract with a U.S. company, if they don’t set up a U.S. LLC or some kind of a company, then they’re getting 30 percent taken out of their checks when they’re mailed to Mexico or wired to Mexico so, we help talent set up an LLC, getting their bank account set up… We got a road map for how to do it now so, it’s gone well.

Rey Fénix is currently sidelined from in-ring action. He was supposed to wrestle Penta at a House of Glory show but was pulled from the event.
