** Guest appearing on Justin Dhillon’s TWC Show ahead of the 5/11 AEW Collision was Bryan Danielson. Danielson explained why it would be tasking for him to do independent shows. He shared that he watched Zack Sabre Jr. versus Daniel Makabe from Prestige Wrestling’s show in April and brought up that he watched matches from the promotion’s Cascadia Cup. Danielson added that it’d be cool to wrestle Makabe.

No, I haven’t wrestled (for DEFY Wrestling). I don’t know, it’s hard for me to do independent shows right now just with how my schedule is and being a dad of two kids and I place being a father as more important than my wrestling. When you keep track of your priorities, it’s like, okay, I’m already gone X amount of time. Do I wanna be gone more time so I can do this independent show that’s essentially just fun for me? Brie (Garcia) did not get upset at me. I don’t wanna say she got upset at me but she was questioning me like, ‘Wait a second, are you doing Arena México just for fun?’ And I said, ‘Yeah…’ She knew that I wanted to do it. It is something that I’ve always wanted to do is wrestle in Arena México. Doing independent shows and also from a Tony Khan perspective, if I get hurt doing an independent show, it messes up a lot of stuff… I haven’t done DEFY. There’s also a company in Portland that’s doing some cool stuff it seems like. They put their shows up on YouTube. I think it’s Prestige (Wrestling). They do the Cascadia Cup. They just did Daniel Makabe and Zack Sabre Jr. I think.

And it’s interesting because I heard Daniel Makabe was retiring this year and I was like, ‘Oh! That would be a cool one.’

And with the accessibility of the internet (people are becoming more aware of wrestlers from other regions of the world), and all that kind of stuff so for example, I became aware of the Cascadia Cup that you can watch on YouTube for free and I watched a couple of matches like, ‘Oh! This is really good. Some of these guys are really talented.’

Towards the conclusion of the interview, he was asked about the possibility of Brie Garcia returning to in-ring action. He brought up the comments from Nikki Garcia about considering reaching out to AEW after seeing Mercedes Moné’s debut. Nikki told Bryan that the full context of her comments was not digested by the public. Danielson thinks Brie would be interested in one or two matches but not a full-time deal.

So I just know vaguely about this from Brianna and Nicole and what they said is nobody actually listened to the full statement. It was something like this: Oh, seeing Mercedes Moné come out made me wanna get back in the ring in AEW and then so that’s where the context ends for everybody else and then she says, but I can’t imagine leaving my son, being on the road or whatever it is, and I think that’s where Brie’s at. I think that’s probably where Nicole is at in the sense of like, yeah, you see it and it’s an exciting time for women’s wrestling. But then it’s also like, my responsibilities as a mom, these other things that they have to do. I think Brie would love to get in the ring like one or two more times, maybe more but never on a weekly thing. Never more than just kind of a one-off here or there, you know what I mean?

** During Bryan Danielson’s appearance on Hockey Night In Canada: Punjabi, he shared his opinion that Kenny Omega is the G.O.A.T. Canadian wrestler.

Okay. Gosh. I would have to say… This is gonna be controversial. It’s gonna be controversial. Kenny Omega (is the G.O.A.T. Canadian wrestler) … And he’s hurt right now but, he’s one of the most fantastic wrestlers you’ll ever see. It’s gonna be controversial… I mean, I’m a huge Bret Hart fan. But, I think when you watch Kenny Omega, who wrestles for AEW, you know, he’s hurt now but, yeah, I love Bret Hart, love the Hart family, all of that kind of thing but when you look at Kenny Omega’s best stuff, it’s just incredible.

** While speaking to Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Místico stated that he wants to wrestle Jon Moxley in Japan.

I have watched Jon Moxley turn into a star. He is more than that, he is a major star and he carries such fighting spirit and heart and determination with him in the ring. I want to wrestle him in Japan. I would love that opportunity.

** With it being 25 years since ‘The Mummy’ film was released, The Hollywood Reporter interviewed director Stephen Sommers. He talked about Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson being in ‘The Mummy Returns’, which was the prequel to The Scorpion King and Johnson’s first movie role.

He (Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson) was great. I had never heard of the guy, but then they sent me some footage of him, and he was just perfect. I had to shoot so fast with him because he flew into Marrakesh on Wednesday, and he had to be in Detroit for a WWE thing on Saturday. But boy, was he a trooper. As soon as the studio saw the dailies, the President of Universal was calling me up and saying, ‘You got to write a movie for him.’ Somehow over the next week or so, I came up with this idea that became the Scorpion King movie.

** Coming out of Backlash, WWE ran a house show in Aix-en-Provence, France. Johnny Gargano was flown to the country to wrestle A.J. Styles. He talked to Good Karma Wrestling about that and encouraged crowds to follow France’s lead when it comes to reactions and energy.

Yeah, Bayley took that video (of me wrestling A.J. Styles in France). Yes, it was Bayley’s video. Bayley sent it to Candice (LeRae). She said, ‘Show Quill how cool it is that his dad’s wrestling A.J. Styles in France right now,’ which is pretty wild. You need to go to WWE live events. You never know what’s gonna happen. You never know if Johnny Gargano’s gonna fly 15 hours, wrestle one show in France against A.J. Styles. So you gotta be there. You never know when that’s gonna happen.

So, NXT did a show in France a couple of years ago and the crowd was absolutely insane. One of our favorite crowds of all-time so, as everyone has watched now, crowds in France are absolutely so amazing, so unique and I mentioned the 15 hours of travel, it was well worth it. I would have traveled 30 hours to wrestle in front of that crowd because that crowd was absolutely electric, absolutely insane and I promise you, for everyone out there, it makes a world of difference. If you’re giving energy, it makes the world of difference in our performance. So please, everyone follow their lead. Be loud, be crazy. I know Cleveland’s gonna be crazy at SummerSlam. I know that for a fact because I’m a Cleveland guy and Cleveland crowds are amazing. So, please, follow their lead, be awesome for us. We really appreciate it.
