AEW Dynamite ranks #6 on cable for go-home show, 18-34 audience rebounds

AEW Dynamite saw a major rebound among its 18-34 audience as the show ranked sixth on cable this past Wednesday night.

The May 22 go-home Dynamite before the pay-per-view averaged 713,000 viewers and 319,000 (0.24) among the 18-49 audience, representing increases of six and seven percent respectively from the prior week. (Data: Wrestlenomics)

The show aired against the Dallas Mavericks vs. Minnesota Timberwolves (6.8 million viewers and 2.40 rating in the 18-49 demo) and the New York Rangers vs. Florida Panthers (1.98 million and 0.61), plus the season finales of Survivor (4.51 million and 0.75), Chicago Med (5.49 million and 0.40) and Chicago Fire (5.79 million and 0.40), per Programming Insider & Sports Media Watch.

This was Dynamite’s largest overall audience since April 17 and a two-week high among its 18-49 audience.

The major improvement was among adults 18-34, which grew by 54 percent with 126,000 viewers in the demo and Dynamite’s largest audience in that age bracket since April 10. The increase included males improving from 47,000 to 62,000 and female viewership increasing from 35,000 to 64,000 this week.

In the 18-49 demo, women increased by 16 percent this week while males only saw a small uptick of two percent.

Adults 35-49 did not have the same pattern with an 11 percent drop from last week to 193,000 viewers.

Wrestlenomics notes that the peak quarter was the opening segment with Roderick Strong & Trent Beretta vs. Will Ospreay & Orange Cassidy with 794,000 viewers. The highest quarter in the 18-49 audience was from 9 – 9:15 p.m. ET for Swerve Strickland vs. Nick Wayne with 333,000 viewers.

In Canada, the audience fell by 26 percent with 73,000 viewers and 44,000 in the 25-54 demo on TSN 2 as it failed to rank among the top ten sports programs on Wednesday. The competition included the NBA & NHL playoff games as well as the Toronto Blue Jays vs. Chicago White Sox.
