Gunther got the better of veteran Randy Orton in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Saturday to become King of the Ring.

With the win, the Austrian earns a world title opportunity at SummerSlam on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, at Cleveland Browns Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.

As a Raw talent, Gunther will compete for the World Heavyweight Championship, currently held by Damian Priest.

The win further solidifies Gunther as a top-tier talent in the main event scene.

The match was slow-paced, as expected, but was enhanced by a very enthusiastic crowd, Gunther’s trademark chops, and some occasional bursts of speed.

Orton was somewhat protected in defeat by a continual selling of knee and back injuries which, for example, heavily delayed a cover attempt after hitting the RKO.

The lengthy match ended with a quick counter by Gunther after a second RKO.
