AEW Double or Nothing notes: Swerve Strickland retains World Title, Mariah May tries to throw in towel, Trent Beretta

Swerve Strickland’s first pay-per-view title defense was against Christian Cage and he retained. Post-match, he celebrated at ringside with 50-0 boxer and multi-time champion, Floyd Mayweather. Seated alongside Mayweather was Brian Quinn of Impractical Jokers.

The AEW Women’s World Championship was on the line as Toni Storm successfully defended against Serena Deeb. She hit her with a top-rope piledriver and then a Storm Zero for the win. During the bout, Deeb had Storm locked in a submission and Mariah May attempted to throw the towel in to end the match. Luther prevented her from doing so, but when Storm made it to the outside, she saw Luther with the towel in his hand and scorned him.

A new theme song was introduced for Trent Beretta. Orange Cassidy brought back The Pixies’ Where Is My Mind? for his theme. Orange went on to defeat Trent. Post-match, Rocky Romero and Renee Paquette tried to catch up with Beretta, but he told Paquette he’s ‘done’ and shoved Romero away.

Don Callis stated that on the 5/29 Dynamite, he’ll be presenting a new Don Callis Family contract.

Jon Moxley defeated Konosuke Takeshita in an IWGP World Heavyweight Title Eliminator match.
