Mercedes Moné says Double or Nothing showed WWE is not the only place, AEW saved her life

Highlights from Mercedes Moné’s press scrum. 

Taking the stage at the post-Double or Nothing press conference was newly crowned TBS Champion Mercedes Moné. She joined AEW President Tony Khan and NJPW President Hiroshi Tanahashi on stage. 

Mercedes stated that coming to AEW saved her life. She praised Willow Nightingale and said she’s one of the best she’s ever wrestled. 

The new champion expressed that Double or Nothing showed WWE is not the only place. She stated that AEW is where the best wrestle. 

She revealed that she signed with AEW at the beginning of 2024. She was asked about saying she was cleared to wrestle in December. Moné said it was Tony Khan’s idea for her to make her in-ring debut at Double or Nothing. 

Mercedes was asked about unfinished business in Japan and called on Khan and Tanahashi to decide on her opponent for Forbidden Door on June 30th.
