Chris Jericho recently discussed his polarizing new “Learning Tree” character, mentioning how he has enjoyed the recent chapter of his AEW run.

During an appearance on Los Angeles-based news station KCAL, Jericho was asked about the “Learning Tree” character that he has presented on AEW programming in recent weeks. Jericho mentioned that his current on-screen presentation is one that fans are “loving to hate and hating to love.”

He spoke positively about his current role on the show, mentioning that it is part of his career-long journey of adapting and keeping his presentation fresh.

“It’s amazing,” said Jericho, when asked about how his new persona has been for him. “When you have been in the business 33 years … You always want to evolve and revamp your character and kind of get some diversity with what you’re doing. I think establishing myself under this ‘Learning Tree,’ it kind of gives you a new vibe, reinvigorates you, and keeps things fresh and fun.”

When asked about his thoughts on fans being mad about his current character, Jericho said that he enjoys it.

“That’s the beauty of wrestling, you just lean into it,” Jericho said. “I take great pride in, kind of, making people angry with things because that’s what you want to do. You’re playing a character, you know what I mean? When Chris Jericho comes on screen in AEW, it’s different from the Chris Jericho that we’re talking to right now. And that’s the way it should be. A larger-than-life character is kind of what wrestling is all about and I embrace that wholly.”

Jericho will launch a new segment on Dynamite tonight, presenting “TV Time with The Learning Tree Chris Jericho”
