The NXT Champion is ready for the challenge.

At the conclusion of the 5/28 NXT on USA Network, NXT Champion Trick Williams and Je’Von Evans picked up a win over Mark Coffey and Joe Coffey.

When the match was over, Williams was joined in the ring by his significant other and Meta-Four member, Lash Legend. She asked him if he was behind Noam Dar and Oro Mensah being attacked and soon after, the attacker was revealed to be Ethan Page

Page ambushed Williams, admitted to the Dar and Mensah attacks and then held the NXT Championship above his head. While Trick was on The Masked Man Show, he addressed what occurred at the conclusion of the show.

You know, I feel kind of conflicted about the whole situation. A piece of me feels like, you know, we just talked about how hard we work for a long time here to build NXT where it is. You can see it’s showing, because we got people jumping from every which way, trying to jump their way to the top title and humbly, I say, it took me a long time to get my opportunity to get a shot at this title right here. So we got people skipping the line, trying to get straight to the top.

And let me say something about that, nobody just asks for a title shot these days. I get jumped every other week… I ain’t running from no challenge, you know what I mean? All you gotta do is, hey man, I want a title shot. Hey look… let’s make it happen. Why we jumping everybody every single week?

Up to this point, every challenger I’ve had, I really watched and studied them. I’ve seen them do their thing on multiple occasions. If we’re talking about Ilja Dragunov, we’re talking about Carmelo Hayes, we’re talking about Bron Breakker. As I look around now, all those guys are gone. It feel like the last episode of Fresh Prince (of Bel-Air). Ethan Page come out and… I’m familiar somewhat with his work. I know he’s efficient in the ring, but now I really gotta study, gotta get back in the lab. To be honest with you, I’m excited for the opportunity, to show the people what I’m about and with a brand-new opponent with Ethan Page and I hope he’s ready for what he asked for, because I’ma bring it.

Page is a two-time IMPACT/TNA World Tag Team Champion. Seeing as how the reigning TNA Knockouts World Champion Jordynne Grace made her return to WWE and is set for the Battleground P.L.E., Williams was asked who from TNA would he like to share the ring with.

I mean, all challengers are welcome. Like I say, I consider it an honor that we built up the brand enough and that we built up this title right here enough that it’s people that wanna go get it so, anybody who wants it can come get it. The door’s open. Now that we doing it, let’s do it.

The 6/4 NXT is the go-home show before Battleground on June 9th. The Poisonrana Podcast will be reviewing both shows and to stay up to date on their episode releases, head over to their content folder on the POST Wrestling site
