Jeff Cobb has put his NJPW World Television Championship up for grabs in an open challenge for the Forbidden Door pay-per-view.

Cobb successfully defended the title at NJPW Dominion against Tomohiro Ishii earlier on Sunday.

At a post-match press conference, Cobb said:

It’s Forbidden Door season, and I am a champion in New Japan Pro Wrestling, and I have been to AEW: All Elite, my ass. If you’re elite, step up. I dare you, step up.

Or are you afraid because when you’re a champion, the criticism of coming on tour to the small towns is on your back, and we know you can’t carry that load? So this goes out to anybody in AEW, Ring of Honor, TNA Impact, MLW, CMLL — which I don’t even work for — but CMLL, you’re put on notice too.

The big shiny gold belt that represents the television of New Japan says, come on down and let me make you famous. Then I’ll suplex your ass back to where you came from. Economy, of course, because I am a frugal individual.

Cobb has held the title since Wrestling Dontaku on May 3rd, when he won it from Zack Sabre Jr.

Sabre Jr. also has a challenge pending for Forbidden Door. In a video that aired during Saturday’s edition of AEW Collision, he called out Orange Cassidy for a match:

AEW fans, rejoice. You are listening to the dulcet tones of Zack Sabre Jr. Now, we are fast approaching that magical time of the bloody year, the Naughty Door. And it would not be complete without the greatest technical wrestler in the world, ZSJ. And this year, I’m returning to some unfinished business.

‘Freshly Squeezed’ Orange Bollocks, if you’ve got the juicy bits, you’ll get your ass to New York, June 30th, Forbidden Door. I’ll see you there, darling.

AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door takes place at the UBS Arena in Long Island, New York on Sunday, June 30th.
