HENARE defeated Shingo Takagi on Sunday to lift the NEVER Openweight Championship.

The victory marks the New Zealander’s first time holding NJPW gold.

The 31-year-old kicked out of a pair of pumping bombers from Takagi, before nailing a headbutt and rugby kick for a near-fall of his own.

He snatched the win with a second headbutt.

Earlier in the show, HENARE was announced as a competitor in the B-Block of this year’s G1 Climax tournament.
